Summer 2021
Parents Evening Letter
Dear Parents/Carers,
This year we will be holding our end of year Parents Evening virtually on Monday 12th July. We will be able to offer you a 10-15 telephone or a video call appointment over Google Meet.
The meeting will give you a chance to discuss your child’s progress this year, targets and other relevant information. We will send out all relevant paperwork and the end of year reports the week before to give you a chance to look at them before meeting with your child’s class teacher.
*PLEASE NOTE Reception Children in Holly and Lime Classes – Parents/Carers will receive their report and discuss their child’s progress within their annual review*
If you choose the Google meet option you will need to inform the class teacher of your email address and have a good internet signal to ensure a quality connection. You can download the Google app to your phone or tablet or you can just click on the link that you are sent via email and access it through your browser on your phone, tablet or computer.
If you choose the telephone appointment option, please make sure you have your phone available at the appropriate time. Please be aware that the call may come from a private or “unknown” number.
If you would like to speak to a SALT, OT, Physio or member of the family liaison team please let your class teacher know and school will arrange for them to make direct contact with you.
Transitions and Summer Show 2021
Dear Parents/Carers,
We would like to welcome you back after the ½ term break, hopefully as restrictions are starting to ease you have managed to get out and meet up with friends and family. Staff are pleased to see everyone return back safely to school after the holiday, all the children continue to be a credit to Lisburne School and have come back enthusiastic and engaged with their learning.
We have some important information that we would like to share with you regarding a few changes we have made to our summer term.
Maths Week 2021
Our theme for Maths Week this year was THE LISBURNE OLYMPICS 2021 with a focus on all aspects of measure – length, weight, capacity, time and money.
Throughout the week, the children took part in a range of fun and engaging activities to develop their knowledge and understanding of measure concepts through real life experiences. Through a variety of outdoor learning opportunities, the children worked hard to improve their skills of matching, comparing, ordering, estimating, measuring and recording.
Every child worked towards achieving their individualised measure target through motivating, hands-on activities such as limbo and welly throwing competitions, timed challenges, races, role-play cafe, designing flags and making different coloured/sized medals.
What a fantastic week of exciting tasks incorporating fun, health and maths!
England Does the Daily Mile
On Friday 30th April 2021, schools across England will be taking part in the ‘England
Does the Daily Mile’. The Daily Mile is a simple and free initiative which gets children
out of the classroom every day, to run, jog or walk at their own pace.
Whilst making children fitter, healthier and more able to concentrate in the classroom, it
has huge social and emotional benefits too. Therefore, The Daily Mile want as many
primary schools as possible around England, to get moving on the same day.
Welcome Back. Summer Term 2021
Welcome back we hope you all had a great Easter and managed to get out a little now that the restrictions have eased slightly. We are delighted to see everyone return safely to school after the holiday, as always the children have returned excited and enthusiastic to continue with their learning and are eager to be back in school. This term classes will be looking at more outdoor learning and we are hoping to safely start some of our life skills out in the community. The key focus across Lisburne School will be to improve our children’s independence and reinforce our learning in everyday situations.
